Persuasion and Influence

POWER PERSUASION: Using Hypnotic Influence To Win In Life, Love and Business

By David Barron and Danek Kaus
I can say that this is the ideal book for anyone who wants to learn how to use hypnotic language to Win in everyday life....because I wrote it!
When you order your book from amazon.com and email me your reciept I'll send you over $2000 of bonus material.

Your book has changed my life and the way I run my businesses. I recently opened a new Real-Estate Brokerage. The biggest challenge is hiring the right type of agent. Utilizing your book, I have been writing my own scripts for hiring agents and dealing with objections and of course get rapport with everyone I get in touch with. My interview-to-hiring radio is at 100% right now, everyone that we want working for us - is working for us. I have been into NLP and Ericksonian Hypnosis for about 8 years now and your book was one of the most practical that I was able to immediately implement into the planning stages of my business. I look forward to growing my business and further developing my own life using the information I learned.< style="font-style: italic;">.

The Persuasion Handbook by Dillard and Pfau

Before I even got this 5-star book I was immediately impressed by the credentials of the editors. James Price Dillard is a Prof. of Communications Arts and Michael Pfau a Professor of Journalism and Mass Communications, both at the University of Wisconsin-Madison.

The Persuasion Handbook by Dillard and Pfau
is a rich book focusing on seven areas:

1. Basic Issues of Persuasion
2. Theories of Persuasion
3. Affect and Persuasion
4. Message Features (this was my favorite with a section on Language and Persuasion)
5. Contexts
6. Persuasion Campaigns
7. Media

If you get this book don't pick it up unless you want to dive deeply into both theory and application of persuasion on every level.
In fact there is something in it for everybody. A graduate student in a school of communication could launch a whole career with this handbook as a starting point. In fact one reviewer said "
If you can absorb these chapter readings, no one in this field will be out ahead of you for several years." and I agree!

The 48 Laws of Power - by Joost Elffers, Robert Greene
I love this book so much I spent an entire weekend memorizing each of the 48 Laws of Power!
The 48 Laws of Power is about just that: POWER. This is a controversial book.
This book is a collection of stories and parables from history and literature which demonstrate how each Law of Power affected people in power all the way through history. It further provides an interpretation of each Law and when it's best not to use it. I highly recommend it to people fascinated with power and how to acquire it 5 out of 5. To people interested in hypnosis and NLP, they would take great interest in it 4 out of 5.

How to Persuade People Who Don't Want to be Persuaded: Get What You Want-Every Time!
by Joel Bauer, Mark Levy

It's "How to Persuade People Who Don't Want to be Persuaded: Get What You Want-Every Time!" by Joel Bauer, Mark Levy and it uniquely makes the proposition that one can use entertainment as a vehicle to persuade.

This is highlighted by the fact that one of the authors, Joel Bauer, is a stage magician and former carnival barker.

"How to Persuade People Who Don't Want to be Persuaded" tells how to draw people in by appealing to their sence of curiosity and by challenging them at the same time all while lowering their defences.

Pretty tricky stuff and most importantly they make it FUN!

Ideal for teachers, managers, salespeople and marketers are a great audience for this book but there is a special place in the authors heart for romantics, daters and singles looking to attract someone (refeed to as Casanovas wanabees or Vamps-in-training by the authors :-). In short the books goal is to show you how to persuade using the skills of a professional pitchman without having to become a professional entertainer.

The Craft of Power

by R. G. Siu
This is a Great follow-up book for the 48 Laws of POWER.
This book is a realistic description of the true nature of personal power as practiced and fought for in the competitive world of leaders, managers, and social activists. It is also a guide to influencing and managing organizations and people. The book analyzes the fundamental elements of effective power, strategic approaches for maximizing it, power tactics and techniques, essential public relations and ceremonies, necessary internal controls, ethical considerations, and relevant actions of those in the game of power.

Influence : The Psychology of Persuasion - by Robert B. Cialdini

This book belongs on your bookshelf if you want to understand the common social techniques and tricks are used on yourself and countless others. Read the examples given in this book to understand how it applies to you. I found this book fascinating reading and I highly recommend this book!!!

Get Anyone to Do Anything : Never Feel Powerless Again--With Psychological Secrets to Control and Influence Every Situation By David J. Leiberman

Based on psychological principles, this book is less about manipulation and more about observing and influencing people (including yourself) and learning how to take control of situations. Most of Lieberman's techniques are straightforward, user-friendly, and practical. You'll learn simple ways to make a fantastic first impression, get people to return your phone calls, and stop a rumor before it ruins you. You don't even have to read the text to benefit. To help you get the upper hand quickly, strategies are reviewed at the end of each chapter. While some suggestions are obvious (smile and make eye contact), the five sections and 40 chapters contain many gems that can help improve your life.

Instant Persuasion by Laurie Puhn

Good communication skills help create positive interactions with others, says Puhn: "Words instantly create resentment and conflict or support and cooperation," as the author, a lawyer and mediator, has learned from experience. This helpful book encapsulates these simple yet timeless ideas into 35 pairs of "Do" and "Don't" rules, useful in work and in life. A straightforward explanation of the rule - e.g., "avoid superficial offers"; "show you care"; "appreciate criticism" - is followed by illustrative tales of communication gone wrong or exemplars of effective ways to apply the rule. While the structure of the chapters is tedious and predictable, the text flows easily. Puhn clearly identifies "blunders" and "wonders" of communication, which will help those who want to use the book as a reference rather than read it straight through. In truth, several of the guidelines she offers are either common sense or just good manners - e.g., "hold your tongue"; "don't take sides" - but many readers will appreciate this refresher course in how to be polite without being a doormat. For anyone needing a reminder of some essential communication guidelines, this volume is essential.

Never Be Lied To Again
By David J. Leiberman

I personally find this book very scary! You can quickly see how hard it is to hide a secret in a police interrogation because the author teaches police this interrogation process!

When liars are being accused of something, they'll stay calm because they're working on their rebuttal; this is why detectives were suspicious of O.J. Simpson when he didn't express outrage when accused of murdering his ex-wife and Ronald Goldman. Never Be Lied to Again is bursting with tested tips like this for quickly determining when you're being boondoggled. Body language, facial expressions, sentence structure, and word choice can all reveal when someone is lying, says psychologist David J. Lieberman, and he includes 46 of these "clues to deception" to help you, including tricks for framing questions without putting others on the defense. Once you use your newly honed "human lie detector" skills to figure out if you're being lied to, you can then dig for the truth using the specific, influential words and body postures that Lieberman suggests. Written with flair and humor, Never Be Lied to Again is designed to help you get the upper hand in any situation, whether you're trying to figure out if your spouse is cheating on you or if you suspect your coworkers are cooking the books.

Sexual Key: Understanding, Attracting, and Seducing Women with Covert Hypnosis by J.D. Fuentes

Women, much more so than men, can be emotionally touched and sexually aroused by language. "Sexual Key: How to Attract and Arouse a Woman in Minutes, using Words Alone" explains the simple and easy step-by-step process of using language to bond with with women in the course of a  conversation. It details differences between the ways men and women respond to language, interpret events, and experience emotions--then shows how these differences can be used to easily and immediately produce a hypnotically powerful impact with the women you choose to include in your life. Whether you want to make having amorous adventures even easier and more fun or you want to lead your present partner to levels of fulfillment no other man ever has ever shown her, Sexual Key will help you unlock a world of possibilities.

Communication Magic by Michael Hall

L. Michael Hall has revised and substantially expanded his classic, The Secrets of Magic. On the face of it this book is about how to communicate more effectively but it is much more than that. In its explanation and development of the Meta-model, which lies at the heart of communication excellence in NLP, Dr Hall demonstrates how your life can be dramatically enriched by having complete control in how you relate and interpret what you are communicating to others. In a clear and logical manner the author examines: how language affects the mind-body system; how language can perform magic-like feats in the nervous and immune systems, and how the magic can bless, empower and enable us to take charge of running our own brains.

Guerrilla Negotiating : Unconventional Weapons and Tactics to Get What You Want

by J. Conrad Levinson,  Mark S. A. Smith, & Orvel Ray Wilson -
An excellent book with ideas on negotiating including sample  linguistic phrases to use to open up the other person's mind. They discuss: * Selective Perception and Selective Recall * Qualifiers  * Amplifiers * Softners * Minimizers * Awareness Directors * Authority Builders * Imagination Triggers * Options Generators * Embedded Commands * Temporal Controllers * Trigger Phrases * Emotive Directors * Responsibility Redirectors * Claiming To Know * Ingratiators * Presuppositions * Comparatives * Unspecified Attribution * And Linkages * Credibility Helpers * more  That's all just in ONE chapter. The book is chock full of a LOT more. There's a ton of information in this little book and I highly recommend you get it, read it and absorb.

NLP Books
NLP at Work: The Difference That Makes a Difference in Business By sue Knight

I recently got the book "NLP at Work: The Difference That Makes a Difference in Business" by Sue Knight and could not put it down.
This *is* a 5-Star book on NLP/Persuasion/Self-Improvement if there ever was one. It is THICK with 230 pages that puts the application of NLP into an easy to understand format.

"NLP at Work" is an exceptional read for the beginning student of NLP and for someone like me who's been at it a decade I found it a VERY refreshing review. As it dived into details of influence, persuasion  and self-improvement I began to quickly see where anyone could apply these skills at work based one Knights concise description of the model of the mind and language.

Trance-Formations - By John Grinder and Richard Bandler. This was one of the first books I ever read when I started to take serious interest in hypnosis and NLP. It covers the Milton language model and various hypnotic techniques that the founders of NLP discovered in studying Milton Erickson. I highly recommend this book for anyone who is serious about studying hypnosis.

The Structure of Magic I - By Richard Bandler and John Grinder.  This book covers the Meta Model language which is known as the inverse Milton Model. I recommend this book (both I and II) to those who are more advanced in their understanding of NLP.

The Structure of Magic II - By Richard Bandler and John Grinder.

Frame Games: Persuasion Excellence
By L. Michael Hall

This is the book that translates Meta-States into everyday language --- into the language of frames (as in frame of reference, frame of mind) and games.  When you think of all of our actions and interactions as "games"--- the games we play at work, home, with our health, in exercise, in eating, in creating wealth, etc. then its obvious that somewhere in your mind there are Rules for those Games--- your frames. Change those frames, and the game changes.  Invent new frames and new games are possible.

An Insiders Guide to Submodalities - By William MacDonald and Richard Bandler. There are several exercises in this book that are worth doing. I recommend this book IF you are willing to work through the exercises.

Instant Rapport - By Michael Brooks  also comes as an

Audio Cassette

This book covers one of the most important skill in NLP to have, that is how to establish rapport. It's easy to read and surprisingly, doesn't require a great deal of skill or knowledge to do the exercises and gain understanding unlike many other NLP books. I highly recommend this book.

The Magic of Rapport - By Jerry Richardson

This is another excellent book that covers the basics of rapport skills. Get it, Read it Use it.  I highly recommend this book.

The Delicate Art of Dancing With Porcupines : Learning to Appreciate the Finer Points of Others - by Bob Phillips
This is an Excellent book that cover the 4 archetypes, or in NLP terminology Satire Temperament Sorts and the various needs of each. Although this book is NOT a "NLP" book, understanding these characteristics will help you get further along with your communication with people.

Hypnosis

Milton H. Erickson, M.D.: Complete Works CD-ROM

If you want to know EVERYTHING about Ericksonian Hypnosis this is the one you should invest in. Milton H. Erickson, M.D.: Complete Works is the most comprehensive collection of Erickson's work currently available. The collection includes articles published by Erickson across five decades (1927-1977). Using this CD ROM database the reader can search more than 2600 pages of text for a single word or a phrase. Navigation between the articles also is facilitated by two indices, one listing the articles by date and another listing the articles in alphabetical order.

Complete Works 1.0 contains multimedia components: read the transcript see photographs of Erickson and listen to the sound of his voice as he describes the most essential aspects of hypnotic induction. To provide an understanding of the context in which these articles where written, included are a chronology of Erickson's professional accomplishments and a biographical sketch written by Jay Haley.

Hypnotherapy by Dave Elman
This is an all time classic and must for any would be or even wannabe Hypnotherapist. Dave Elman is famed for teaching hypnosis to doctors and dentists during his illustrious career. He show how the science and art of traditional hypnosis can be combined with warm hearted compassion. Yes! Five Stars.

Instant Self-Hypnosis: How to Hypnotize Yourself With Your Eyes Open by Forbes Robbins Blair

This book is essentially a script book for self-hypnosis. As you might expect the beginning of the book is a general induction you can use to induce yourself into a trance state, followed by a selection of 35 scripts for dealing with common issues and helping you to improve your life. You'll find scripts for weight-loss, confidence, motivation, public speaking, lucid dreaming, better sex life and many others.

The emphasis of this book on using hypnosis while you're awake. This is something I especially like because most people tend to have in their mind that  hypnosis as the "Deeeep, deeeep Sleep!" type of  phenomenon. But the truth is "trance" is a natural state we all go into every day whether our eyes are open or closed.

"Instant Self-Hypnosis" is different from other books on self hypnosis in that it doesn't require much time or effort before you begin to apply it.

Hypnotherapy Scripts - By Ronald A. Havens Ph.D. and Catherine Walters

This book is the epitome of neo-Ericksonian thought. It provides a neo-Ericksonian orientation on how to use the scripts listed. each script is  metaphoric and designed for specific outcomes are written in the pacing of how  Milton Erickson would have done it.  I recommend it.

The Hypnotic World of Paul McKenna - By Paul McKenna
This is an excellent book about hypnosis and all the things you can do with it. It's also the story of Paul McKenna and how he became a hypnotist. I highly recommend this entertaining and informative book.

Handbook of Hypnotic Suggestions and Metaphors - by D. Corydon Hammond (Editor)
This very thick book is packed full of hypnotic scripts which covers how to treat anorexia and weight control to pain control. It explains the concepts and theories behind creating effective scripts and metaphors. This book is NOT for beginners, however I highly recommend this book for serious students of hypnosis.

Trancework: An Introduction to the Practice of Clinical Hypnosis - by Michael D.Yapko
This is an excellent book on Clinical Ericksonian Hypnosis. Definitely not for the beginner, it covers subject areas from misconceptions of hypnosis, hypnotic phenomena to various scripts for trance work. I highly recommend this book for serious students of hypnosis.

ACCELERATED LEARNING

This book shows you how to do image streaming and it's various applications that can tremendously increase your creativity and learning ability. I highly recommend this book for those serious about learning.

Accelerated Learning for the 21st Century : The Six-Step Plan to Unlock Your Master-Mind

by COLIN ROSE

Accelerated Learning into the 21st Century contains a simple but proven plan that delivers the one key skill that every working person, every parent and student must master, and every teacher should teach: it's learning how to learn. The theory of eight multiple intelligences (linguistic, logical-mathematical, visual-spatial, kinesthetic, musical, interpersonal, intrapersonal, and naturalist) developed by Howard Gardner at Harvard University provides a foundation for the six-step MASTER-Mind system to facilitate learning (an acronym for Mind, Acquire, Search, Trigger, Exhibit, and Review), and is enhanced by the latest findings on the value of emotion and memory on the process of learning.

Past Life

CAUTION: SOUL MATE AHEAD
by Janet Cunningham, PhD, and Michael Ranucci
Cunningham and Ranucci have put together a fascinating and sensitive study of the

true nature of our relationships with the other souls in this world. With a rich collection of case histories and anecdotal stories, as well as poetry which carries emotions which are beyond simple prose, these authors have created a very readable book. More than enjoyable in its own right, this book gives a description of the formation of transcendental relationships which endure for ages, spanning many lifetimes.
